Hola readers! As both mine & Meagan’s weddings have now officially wrapped up, you’ll notice we finally have time to share & post some of the special projects/moments/things from both of our weddings. I thought it would be fun to share Meagan’s Bridal Shower with you guys. We held it in August at a restaurant in downtown Toronto. My mom & I decided to work with a gold/mint/white colourscheme as our palette for the event… we felt these colours were beautifully complimentary and also just fitting of Meagan’s style and personality.
After we had the date & venue settled, we needed to send out invitations stat. I was so pumped to work with Minted on this, as I know Meagan had a great experience working with them previously (here and here). The amazing thing about Minted is that it’s incredibly customizable, especially in terms of colour. Instead of having to search for an invite that already had our colours, I was able to pick my favourite invite and simply provide them with the colours I wanted to use. AMAZING. It was as easy as searching for the Pantone colour # on the internet and providing a link to that colour in the Special Instructions section of the editor. And I gotta say… having this much creative control is fundamental when you’re trying to plan a cohesive and stylized bridal shower. You can see their full set of bridal shower invites here.
We loved how the invites turned out. Know what was also really incredible? Minted has this amazing FREE recipient address feature. Basically you upload your guest’s addresses into the site and voila! In your shipment you receive all envelopes, beautifully addressed to your recipients. This is a huge time saver.
My mom and I sourced as many mint, gold and white décor and fun treats as we could.
To save on costs, I used materials from home and stocked up on sweets from Bulk Barn (a bulk food store in Ontario) to create this stylized sweets table.
For favors, I found these tins on sale at Michael’s, then filled them with handmade artisan chocolate from a local chocolatier, The Chocolateria. The chocolates fit inside perfectly. We had chocolate mint (of course!) and also butter crunch. Guests loved them. Know what else they loved? A hidden message from Nan herself on the bottom of the favors:
We also decided to take advantage of the TV in the space and put a slideshow on display – pictures of Meagan and James through the years playing in the background. I made this circle garland using different paper sourced at Michael’s.
My favourite thing at the shower had to be the big gold letter-shaped balloons spelling MEAGS – Meagan’s nickname! For events, I love a major focal point in the room to really bring everything together, and this did that. Plus it made for a fun backdrop for photo ops!
All in all it was a successful and truly special event… and I think Meags enjoyed herself, which is the most important thing!
A special shout out to my mom, my husband, my stepmom, sister in law, and Meagan’s friends who came early to help – Thank you all for making this day come together!
*Note: The bridal shower invitations were kindly provided by Minted to us. The opinions and text are all mine. Don’t worry! I only write about brands I love!
