I know Canadian Thanksgiving has already passed, but there stretches a time every year between Canadian and American Thanksgiving where I start to reflect on the year passed and all the things I have to be thankful for. Sounds cheesy but it’s true: I find the more I practice gratitude and taking the time to appreciate what I have in my life (and WHO I have in my life), the happier I become, and the less I want for things. It’s such a great frame of mind to enter into as we approach Christmas, and well… massive spending, gifting, and general excess. Feeling like what we have right now is enough. It’s more than enough. It’s amazing!
After the excitement of the wedding started to die down, it started to feel like a distant memory. The only thing left to do at that point was send out thank you cards… which to me is actually really important. I wanted to take the time to really thank each and every person that came and celebrated with us, writing personalized notes to everyone, because it really meant SO much to us, and I want to express it.
There is something about sitting down and reflecting on one of the biggest events of your life, and the special people in your life who all made that event even MORE special, that just gives you all the feels. I don’t believe in writing a generic message to a bunch of totally different people. It just doesn’t sit right with me. I’d rather take longer to get the message out, but have that message be a truly personalized one. It can be difficult to find the words, but it’s worth it.
Upon receiving the photography work from our very talented photographer, Jake at Kampphotography, I was so excited to share his work. The nicest way to do that (in my mind) was pick our favourite picture and feature that on the Thank You card. You’re sending out thank you cards anyway, why not incorporate your favourite shot from the day?
We took this shot and turned it into our cover photo for our cards:
Minted has an incredible selection of work to choose from – and not just for Thank You cards. Remember the beautiful bridal shower invites Meagan created for me back in March? They offer personalization every step of the way. After scouring the internet high and low, I can honestly say they have some of the most elegant & stylish designs.
And I didn’t even know this service existed, but it does, apparently: They will address your envelopes for you. Seriously?!?! Who offers that?! Listen, after addressing as many envelopes as I have for the wedding (Save the Dates, bridal shower thank you cards, actual invitations) as nicely as I could, my hands deserved a much needed rest.
Not to mention the time it saves. And how much nicer it looks in the fonts they provide (my handwriting has degenerated to chicken scratch from overuse). This is total win-win.
My wedding may be all done and just a happy memory now, but I’m so thrilled to be able to share this last sentiment with our guests as we officially close the door on our wedding, and enter into the life of marriage.
*Note: These cards were kindly provided by Minted. The opinions and text are all mine. Don’t worry! We only write about brands we love!
