Gender neutral nurseries seem like the holy grail of baby rooms for parents who do not know what they are expecting. I love the idea of parents not knowing what they are having likely just because it seems so modern to find out what sex you are having (along with every other conceivable thing you can check during pregnancy)… Thank God for modern medicine and its amazing ability to transform lives…
But back to the finding out the sex of your baby debate. It does seem make life a heck of a lot easier when you know what you are having! There are inherent clothes buying dilemmas, decorating dilemmas, gift dilemmas and the list goes on when you decide not to find out what you are having…
With some parents it is a matter of not wanting to go over the top with gender related themes – i.e., “Girls wear pink, boys wear blue”. Call it feminism, call it whatever you like – but it is nice to see a move away from traditional ideas surrounding what is feminine and what is masculine.
Also, if you plan on having more than one child, it makes sense to invest in neutral items that can be reused with baby #2, #3, #4, #5 – oh wait, not many parents are doing that these days! But for financial reasons, gender neutral nurseries make sense too!
In celebration of old fashion clueless-ness (I know it’s not a real word folks!) and those parents who do not want all baby blue or baby pink items in their child’s nursery, we are focusing on gender neutral nursery inspiration today. Enjoy!
