That’s right, we are dappling into the cocktail world folks! I actually don’t make that many cocktails – I used to be a big vodka soda gal but to be honest, I just don’t gravitate towards hard liquor. That said, I had the pleasure of being treated to a traditional French 75 about a month ago. And I loved it. A little gin, a little simple syrup, little lemon topped with champagne? Oh yes, it was delicious. I decided with the holiday season here, making cocktails at Roselie’s annual Christmas party would be fun – but I wanted to take this traditional cocktail to a new height – so I infused my gin! And that’s how we took this drink to the next level – behold – the French 75 with Infused Gin:
Infusion ingredients – I picked raspberries and cucumber
Champagne or sparking wine
Fresh lemon – juice and some rind
Simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar, boiled then cooled)
The night before I wanted to make my cocktails, I grabbed some mason jars and filled them halfway with fresh raspberries and cucumber before adding the gin to each jar. I let those sit in the fridge overnight.
Cocktail making is pretty simple – place one shot of your infused gin into a shaker with ice. Shake. Poor into champagne flutes. We got these beautiful Riedel glasses as a wedding gift. I love them. (need to drink more bubbles!). Add in a splash of fresh lemon and simple syrup. Top off with the sparkling delicious stuff. Bam. Cocktail.
So easy. So delicious. Personally I loved the cucumber infused gin cocktail best of these two.
Hope you enjoy this cocktail – let me know if it takes your next dinner party to the next level. Oh and those cute festive straws? Find them here.Pin It
