DIY Plant Stand – Re-purposing a CD Tower into a Plant Stand

nce upon a time on Twitter someone I followed tweeted about re-purposing a CD tower into a DIY plant stand. We had just been gifted with a CD tower from a family friend. A lightbulb went off in my head – I painted the tower, I waited patiently for our local garden center to start carrying affordable succulents/cacti and my patience finally paid off yesterday……

Ikea hacking….

Waiting patiently for friends to arrive to the party.

And stand back….

I wanted a 3rd and a 4th succulent but unfortunately the Home Base staff don’t take very good care of their houseplants so none where take home worthy. Eventually they will expand their little family! For a little hint of colour (and admittedly because I was too cheap to buy baby pots), I grabbed some of my old peachy colour teacups. Some old granny would be turning in her grave if she knew I was using her cups as plant pots!

This worked out to be a super cheap little project:

  • CD tower = free
  • gray high gloss paint = on sale at B&Q for £3
  • teacups = under $1 CDN each
  • Small succulent/cactus = £1 each
