Today I wanted to revisit the DIY tutorial for the Hanging Metallic Gems I made for my wedding this past June, because I actually think they make for great holiday decor as well. I love it when things turn out to serve multiple purposes. After the wedding, I didn’t really want to throw these puppies out, seeing as I spent a decent chunk of time making them. I made a lot of them, and aside from my Dad’s construction of the forms, did it all on my own. It was many, many hours. Also, they are so pretty. It’s hard to just throw them away. So they sat in my attic collecting dust for the last six months. And then, this week, I decided to bring them back out and do a little damage control to some wrecked areas. I then hung them up in my living room in preparation for a Christmas party I’m hosting this weekend. These DIY gems as holiday decor are easy to make and add that extra glam to our home for the holidays.
I know they are basically pinatas, but in my opinion, anything metallic can be used as holiday decor.
I love this time of year.
If you feel motivated to make your own, you can revisit our DIY gem tutorial here. Would make a cute Christmas gift!
Interested to see how they turned out at my wedding? Here are a couple of snapshots to give you an idea.
