Organize me.

We had a request to post about some nifty organization units and the like. We adore the idea of getting organized but struggle to keep it up over time, which appears to be a pretty common plight (based on a none scientific longitudinal study of our friends and family members!).  Reviewing what the experts have to say, there seems to be 2 camps. The first camp is the minimalist camp – these of those freaks of nature who hold on to little or no possessions and have little need for organization… The other camp is the controlled chaos camp.

For the nerds out there, the idea of control of chaos from the chaos therapy “is based on the fact that any chaotic attractor contains an infinite number of unstable periodic orbits. Chaotic dynamics then consists of a motion where the system state moves in the neighborhood of one of these orbits for a while, then falls close to a different unstable periodic orbit where it remains for a limited time, and so forth. This results in a complicated and unpredictable wandering over longer periods of time.” (from here).

What does that mean? There is always going to be chaos moving around your house – you get stuff, it evens migrates elsewhere in your house for a limited time – and it is complicated and unpredictable. So there. Now for the meat of this post…

Matching baskets and bins is the most affordable and real life way to go – but you know, if you like something you could work towards getting that look for less elsewhere – buying second hand etc!
